I'd love to see Water Voles!

I once attended an online class on drawing Water Voles, which is as close as I've got.

I'd love to see them too. Did you know that there are lots of water voles in Glasgow? Maybe there's an opportunity for you to see some there. They're unusual as they live away from the water. They're mentioned in the Beaver Bombing book and there's some information about them here: https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/watervoles

Yes I've heard a lot about the famous Glasgow Water Voles, I really should get across there to see them.

I used to see water voles quite often when I was young, but haven't seen one for years now. It is good to know that re-introductions are being successful - I hope I will see them again one day. Thanks for a great post :-)

Thank you. Yes, hopefully the reintroductions mean we'll all have more chance of seeing them in future.

Hi Angie, They're quite a common visitor at Blacktoft Sands I discovered this morning! (I didn't see one, but the volunteer on duty had been watching one all morning before we arrived)

I hope you get to spot one. We just signed up to the RSPB over the weekend so will be going back soon in hope of seeing one too.

This was a fascinating read Ruth, thank you 😊 Incredibly timely as just this morning my husband and I decided to pay a visit to our local nature reserve. The gentleman in charge told us that he'd been enjoying watching a water vole all morning! Sadly it didn't make an appearance whilst we were there, but we'll go back and hope to get lucky next time.
